Our Story
Since 2002, Galileo Learning has brought unique summer programs to kids across the Bay Area, known for first-rate curriculum, energetic professional staff and a fun, safe environment. Campers who attend Galileo's programs learn to work with others, become skilled at the creative process and are inspired to become the next generation of innovative leaders. We'd love your kids to join our community in "Growing Up Galileo"!
Our home office is located in Oakland, Calif., where an experienced team works year-round to provide our local Camp Directors with the tools they need to run safe, fun and educationally meaningful programs in the communities we serve. Our Program Directors and their staff members then inject each camp with their own unique flavor and creativity.
In April 2010, Galileo Learning was named the #3 "Best Place to Work" in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times, for organizations with 51-100 employees. This annual award recognizes companies that provide employees with a positive workplace experience and is based on employee evaluations of their work environment and company management.
WHO IS GALILEO?
Galileo Learning is named after the great Galileo Galilei (1564 ‒1642), an Italian physicist, astronomer and philosopher. Often referred to as the "Father of Modern Science", Galileo is most famous for his improvements to the modern compass and telescope. He spent the last years of his life under house arrest because of his unpopular belief that Earth rotated around the sun.
While Galileo's inventions and discoveries alone are worth celebrating, it is the spirit behind his work for which our organization honors him. Galileo was a true revolutionary, a man who wasn't afraid to ask questions, challenge perceived norms and blaze new trails. His way of thinking influenced science, art and the very process by which we hope to continue learning and teaching today.
